Our Guides. Your Way.

Ryokans are traditional mountain inns with access to hot springs and communal baths. Small, intimate and emblematic of “Omotenashi” — Japanese hospitality in its truest sense.

Staying in a Ryokan is an immersive sociocultural experience and about as far from a Western style hotel as one can get.

You may even find yourself wearing a kimono or yukata, symbolizing equality and comfort among guests.

The Ryokan Experience

Food Imitates Art

The Japanese penchant for meticulous care in the kitchen knows no equal. Each and every dining experience will gratify your sense of sight, smell and taste. From incredible sushi and sashimi to Wagyu beef, the finest wines and digestifs, you will be transported to a culinary world of multiple courses, all arranged artfully and fresh to the season.

Sample Trips

Niseko Annupuri Mountain

This mountain resort is a gateway to backcountry adventure, with regular snow totals of over 50 feet annually.

A day of off-piste powder, lift-accessible, ends with a restful late afternoon at the spa.

Mea-Dake Summit ‘Snow Monsters’

Just 30 minutes of skinning to the top of Mea-Dake means multiple laps on this surreal run.

You’ll dodge snow-crusted trees (the monsters) to reach the steep bowl where insane amounts of snow pile in daily.

Undersea Bullet Train to Aomori

Getting to Aomori, the “snowiest city in the world,” is half the fun.

A bullet train takes you undersea in Japan’s longest railroad tunnel. But not before you drink in the rolling hills and beautiful cities aboveground.
